Hi there,
You're three days into your recovery journey with your precious baby. This is one of the most intense but important weeks of healing. We're here to support you every step of the way.
This Week's Focus: Rest & Initial Healing
Your Recovery Goals (Days 1-7)
Physical:
Your C-section incision is beginning its healing process. Focus on gentle movement—short walks around your home help prevent blood clots and support recovery.
- Walk short distances several times daily (even just to the bathroom counts!)
- Begin gentle Kegel exercises (3-5 reps, 3-4 times daily)
- Practice deep breathing and gentle belly muscle activation
- Take pain medication as prescribed—staying ahead of pain helps healing
Emotional:
You may experience a wide range of emotions—joy, overwhelm, anxiety, or the "baby blues" (which often peak around days 3-5). All of this is completely normal.
Your Baby:
Your newborn sleeps 16-18 hours a day in short stretches, feeds every 2-3 hours, and is learning to recognize your voice and scent. This constant care is exhausting but temporary.
Important! Track Your Blood Pressure Daily
Days 3-10 after delivery are when postpartum preeclampsia risk is highest. Please check your blood pressure at least once today.
What to watch for:
- Blood pressure ≥140/90: Contact your OB office
- Blood pressure ≥160/110: Go to the ER immediately
- Severe headache, vision changes, or upper belly pain: Seek care now
